Part of Orkestai's mission is to foster an interdependent community by inviting our neighbors to share in our bounty and our farm.  As a CSA (Community Supported Agriculture) member you can become part of our farm by purchasing a share of our harvest at the beginning of the season, helping provide the "seed" money that will allow us to begin to sow our garden.

Starting with the first harvest, members stop by the farm once a week to pick up their share of ecologically-grown produce, cultivated locally, without synthetic chemicals, by the our farm managers, Natasha and Aidan, and our differently abled farm apprentices, whose participation means so much!  Currently, we are not certified organic, but have taken the farmer's pledge and use practices that assure healthy food, a local economy, and care of the land.

Our CSA is an excellent and delicious way to experience the seasons. With a focus on providing gourmet seasonal salads, each week our members will receive 2-3 bags of restaurant quality cut and washed baby greens, ready to eat out of the bag. In addition to salad, each share will also include 5 or so additional vegetable items. These crops will change with the seasons and will include items like heirloom tomatoes, cherry tomatoes, sweet peppers, zucchini, carrots, beets, sweet salad turnips and french breakfast radishes. Members can also expect specialty items such as fresh bulbs of fennel and bunches of herbs like cilantro, dill and parsley.

Throughout the growing season, the foundation of our prepared salads will be a mix of baby leaf lettuce. These greens make a wonderful salad, with a range of textures and colors that give your salad loft to keep it from getting soggy. In addition to baby leaf lettuce, you can expect to receive other greens as they come into season. At times they might be part of a mesclun mix, or bagged to be served as a salad on their own. These greens will include arugula, spinach, baby kale, mizuna, tatsoi and other specialty greens.

So bring your sun hat, some cloth bags, or a basket, and come gather up fresh produce from the farm!  Being a member in Orkestai Farm's CSA means relishing in every day of the season, rejoicing when you hear a forecast of rain, and celebrating the amazing gifts the land bestows, with a like-minded community of very special folks - just like a farmer!

CSA Members are also invited to all of our farm events.  Please see our calendar for details.

Thank you!
